There has been media coverage of the Argentinian team chanting about the Falklands, or the Malvinas, as the Argentinians prefer to call them.
A British government minister has complained to Fifa about the chanting and has made reference to Fifa rules prohibiting all political speak at the World Cup.
It is ironic that Spain will be playing Argentina on Sunday in the World Cup final.
There might well be a crisscrossing of chanting before and after the game; Spain looking for the return of Gibraltar and Argentina looking for the Falklands.
If anyone wants good fun on the Argentine controversy they should tune into right wing television station GBNews; it is hilarious on the subject.
Surely the Gibraltar Falklands land grabs could make it a field day for a clever comedian.
And then there's poor Thomas Tuchel, manager of the English team, who is now being demonised for England's defeat on Wednesday evening. It is now being questioned if he be a spy.
Is it just the British, or is it all of us, who behave like this? No doubt all of us, but the British have had a longer run of colonialism than most.
