Pope Francis has called on all believers across the world to unite spiritually today, May 14, for a day of prayer and fasting and works of charity to implore God to help humanity overcome the coronavirus pandemic.
"Remember, on May 14, all believers together, believers of different traditions, to pray, fast and perform works of charity," he said.

What does he mean with 'works of charity' in a lock-down situation?
Marty and Bernard on RTE1 last night were showing a group of women from Ballybough in Dublin who were cooking food for the poor/homeless - i guess that wouldn't be allowed right now?!
Works of charity are possible always everywhere. Smiling at someone, a kind, supportive word. A few 'bob' to the poor person, who may call to your door. Helping your children with home learning, extra support for your spouse/partner. A phone call to a lonely person.
