Breda O'Brien's yes for O'Rourke, no for journalists

Breda O'Brien in her column in The Irish Times on Saturday writes in praise of Sean O'Rourke who retired from his programme and RTE on Friday.

O'Brien is high in her praise for O'Rourke.

She writes: "A lot of journalists have internalised the narrative that the church is either the enemy of all progress or a remnant of the past. Those who have not rarely out themselves."

Is that fair or true?

Elsewhere she writes about an interview O'Rourke did with Archbishop Eamon Martin: "Archbishop Martin, who is a serene and competent communicator, made his case well."

Is that accurate and true?

It would be interesting to get an insight into Breda O'Brien's understanding or definition of church?

And are journalists such a homogenous group as Breda O'Brien paints them out to be?
