RTE's use of the word 'around'

RTE is using the word 'around' incorrectly.

On Morning Ireland today Brian Dobson used the word 'around' when he should have used the word 'about'.

He intended to mean approximately.

But why the anonymity?
People do care about anonymity. And certainly it would be dangerous to apply the 'so what, who cares philosophy to anonymity.
Should the public broadcaster not give the correct meaning to words?
