Church and its titles

It can be difficult to undestand the ways or indeed, the moods of the Catholic Church.

On the one hand Pope Francis calls for simplicity and seems not to approve of titles, yet an Irish bishop refused a parish priest to call himself Fr Joe Soap in the diocesan directory, instead he must be known as Very Reverend Joe Soap.

A funny old church.

It would be interesting to know the relationship there is between the pope and his papal nuncios. Does he have a direct input into their appointments? Is it easy for him to remove nuncios from their posts?
