€800,000 in unclaimed Dublin Bus refund tickets

So far this year only17 per cent of Dublin Bus refunds have been collected by bus passengers. It means that in 2016 €800,000 has noty been collected in bus refund tickets.

According to a report in todays' 'Irish Times' average unclaimed receipts run at approximately €1m annually.

Many charities, including Concern Worldwide, are recipients of bus refund tickets. Employees of companies voluntarily collect their bus refund tickets and donate them to an agreed charity.

With the introduction of the Leap Card one would have expected a decline in the number of unclaimed bus tickets.

People who have adopted Leap cards are more likely to have collected their refunds. Eejits who haven't are those most likely not to have bothered with their refunds either
