At the Gedächtnis Kirche

That the evil of Monday evening in Berlin happened right at the foot of the Gedächtnis Kirche is a poignant reminder of how we keep going back to doing wrong.

The damaged church at Breitscheidplatz was left standing in its bombed condition as a reminder of the evil and madness of war and violence.

German President Joachim Gauck said the perpetrator's hate would "not seduce us to hate, it will not divide us".
