Maybe it is that it is beyond my intellectual pay grade but this has to sound beyond crazy.
What is the bishop talking about, indeed what too is the interviewer saying? What at all are they at? And throwing in the odd Latin word surely must make them sound wise, intelligent and knowledgeable. But is this not total twaddle?
Listening to it, one must wonder has the bishop ever worked on a construction site, driven a locomotive, worked a manual crane many metres into the sky. All these workers are better protected by modern safety regulations. What has the teaching of St Thomas to do with protecting women and men operating cranes, driving trains or cleaning out sewerage systems?
Surely this is all condescending patronising nonsense, speaking down to the hoi poloi.
It certainly is annoying. Then again, maybe it is that I am simply not intelligent enough to understand it. But if so be the case, for whom then is it intended or targeted?
Is this another example of the hierarchical church speaking down to people? And all done with fancy footwork.
