A tea cosy destined for the Islamic Republic of Iran

Lally Lawlor, who celebrated her 100th birthday in the spring, knitting. Note she is at work without glasses.

"Michael, they don't drink alcohol in Iran, which means they drink a lot of tea, so guess what I am knitting? A tea cosy for Paul."

The picture was taken today. Lally's son Paul is an Irish Dominican working in Tehran, the capital city of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Thanks for sharing that with us, Michael.
And no glasses, (as you say)!
I remember so well your great blog on your Free Travel Pass. Mine WAS due to arrive in the post this week for my 66th birthday on 9th October.
I had planned to go on a Day Trip to Rosslare to celebrate!
Alas, the postal strike has put paid to that plan.
All the best to you,
Maeve
(Alan's mother)

Why not call Sligo? They may not have it in the post yet and they may have a system in operation whereby you can collect it at a local Social Protection office. The Department has said it is putting an alternative system into place for the delivery of Social Welfare cheques.
Keep me posted. And regards to Alan and family in Norway.
