A Jesuit priest who fought for respect for gay people

Below is a link to an obituary in today's Irish Times.

It is an obit on John McNeill, a Jesuit priest who fought for respect for gay people in the Catholic Church.

In 1987, on orders from the Vatican, he was expelled from the Jesuits.

It would be interesting to know who were the people involved in his expulsion. How many of them were closet gay men?

Elsewhere in today's issue of the Irish Times there is a piece on Gordon Linney, who has just published in book form a collection of his 'Thinking Anew' columns.

In the piece Linney is quoted as saying:  "religion is in a mess."
