Ukip romps home in Clacton and squeeze Labour in Heywood and Middleton. The former Conservative MP Douglas Carswell won the seat for Ukip. He won over 52 per cent of the vote. In Heywood and Middleton the Ukip candidate was within 600 votes of winning a safe Labour seat.
