The cardinal archbishop of Cologne has offered his resignation to Pope Francis.
There has been ongoing controversy about how Archbishop Rainer Maria Woelki handled cases of clerical child sex abuse in the archdiocese of Cologne.
Was he completely open and honest, did he attempt to conceal issues? Has he shown respect and dignity to victims and indeed to the people of the archdiocese? Is he a man capable of dialogue?
Respect, dignity and dialogue are important qualities.
Woelki is not the only German archbishop who has offered to resign.
