A letter in The Irish Times yesterday:
No Dáil sitting on Wednesday?
Sir, – There will be no Dáil sitting on Wednesday as more than 100,000 public sector workers prepare to take part in a nationwide strike over pay (“Dáil sitting next Wednesday cancelled due public sector workers’ strike”, News, October 10th). Let me get this one right: the Government has decided they won’t turn up for work on Wednesday because of the strikes? I find it difficult to comprehend that our politicians have made such a decision.
Our TDs should display leadership by turning up for work, especially when a lot of this imbroglio is of their own making. – Yours, etc,
John O'Brien, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
But a question; if there be a picket on Dáil Éireann on Wednesday and TDs don't pass it will they be docket ad day pay, like the rest of us who will be on strike or refuse to pass a picket?
