A letter in The Irish Times yesterday:
No Dáil sitting on Wednesday?
Sir, – There will be no Dáil sitting on Wednesday as more than 100,000 public sector workers prepare to take part in a nationwide strike over pay (“Dáil sitting next Wednesday cancelled due public sector workers’ strike”, News, October 10th). Let me get this one right: the Government has decided they won’t turn up for work on Wednesday because of the strikes? I find it difficult to comprehend that our politicians have made such a decision.
Our TDs should display leadership by turning up for work, especially when a lot of this imbroglio is of their own making. – Yours, etc,
John O'Brien, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
But a question; if there be a picket on Dáil Éireann on Wednesday and TDs Senators don't pass it will they lose a day's pay, like the rest of us who will be on strike or refuse to pass a picket?
