A gentle climb to the top of Sorrell Hill

Surprisingly few walkers on Sorrell Hill in Wicklow on Bank Holiday Monday.

Sorrell Hill is east of Blessington. Approached from Kilbride, it is a leisurely walk to the summit, which stands at 599 metres.

Weather on Monday was perfect and fabulous views from the top. All the surrounding mountains were visiible and was it possible that the Welsh mountains were within range?

Water levels in the Blessington lakes look dangerously low.

A lovely gentle walk with just one or two short steep ascents. Easily doable in two hours, up and down.

A pleasant picnic on the way down added to the magic of the walk.
