'Burkinis' alive and well in Maynooth and elsewhere

The burkini row is surely not just about fashion. Is it a row about clothes making a statement?

People are entitled to wear what they like provided it does not offend the laws of 'common decency'.

We are living in divisive times.

The burkini row is also happening, under a different guise, within the Catholic Church. In some odd way the current Maynooth controversy is in many aspects the same sort of thing. And it's not just in Maynooth it is happening.

The disdain, the lack of trust, the division between the opposing sides is shocking.

The cartoon below appeard in yesterday's Irish Times.
