Poor design at Lidl

Lidl has introduced a new basket in its stores.

A bad design. It is deep, which means one has to delve deep down to the bottom of the basket to remove the items at the bottom. And if the basket is up on the counter at the check out it is particularly difficult.

The idea might be that shoppers will be inclined to fill the bigger basket. But it's a bad design.

What did Lidl do with the smaller blue basket?

Two blogspots seem to fit when they are near.
Perhaps LIDL might also stand for little information Dominican life.
