History is burdened by the excesses of patriarchal cultures that considered women inferior.

The Catholic Church, the Irish church, religious orders are burdened by the excesses of patriarchal cultures.

How can it be changed?

The sycophancy of church leaders will help change nothing. But what will help is the appointment of open and honest people to jobs of responsibility and leadership.

And that's not happening in the Irish church.
