Dominic set out with six followers in 1215 to talk about the Gospel in the new developing cities in Europe.
It would seem he'd have much to say about the world of today and how the Dominicans are responding to that environment.

Is it not usually thought that Dominic went to Rome in 1215 to try to get papal approval for the new Order of Preachers? This link with Rome is essential to the history of the Dominicans. At that stage his followers were established in Toulouse, and that city seemed likely to remain their base. It was only after Dominic had gained papal approval for the Order in 2016 that at the feast of Pentecost 2017 he sent his followers throughout Europe. In general, he seems to have sent them to well established cities and places of learning in Europe,(Paris, Bologna, Oxford....) rather than what you describe as "developing cities."
