Party at the Áras

President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina hosted a garden party at Áras an Uachtaráin yesterday for multi cultural groups.

The house and gardens were open and a buffet was served in a marquee in the garden.

In an address to the group the President spoke of how important it is to welcome the stranger.

He spent some time talking about the present global movement of so many refugees.

The President referred to the small but important work that the Irish Navy is doing in the Mediterranean and that shortly the LÉ Aoife will replace the LÈ Eithne.
