Today's Gospel reading Luke 7: 36 - 50, is a powerful call to all of us to listen to the wisdom and love of the 'ordinary' person.
The reading is in sharp contrast to a philosophy/ideology/theology, which suggests that it's the 'priestly class' who are the ones who impart 'learning'.
Of course 'ordinary' person is a horrible word, as is the term 'lay person'.
