John Waters gets it wrong on Dublin's ripped up tramlines

In yesterday's Sunday Independent John Waters writes an interesting and engaging article on Irish railways.

Parts of it are complicated. His 953 story makes for difficult reading.

He refers to the "the relatively recent introduction of the Luas to Dublin involved, for the most part, the restoration of tramlines torn up during the wave of destruction in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I presume Mr Waters is referring to the ripping up of the Harcourt Street to Bray train line. These were not tramlines.

It's sloppy journalism.

Mr Waters is currently the darling boy of Catholic right wing publications.

Is his theology and understanding of church as inaccurate as his words on Dublin's tramlines?

Indeed, the tramlines were also ripped up but the Luas runs where there were once dedicated railway tracks.

It's always the little things.
