The link below is an interview with RMT general secretary Mick Lynch last Saturday on RTE I’s Brendan O’Connor Show.
He makes an interesting point at the end of the piece. While the railway companies and the government are claiming that the unions will not introduce new technology, something Lynch refutes, that same government will not allow trade unions carry out votes electronically. They must use the Royal Mail. Mr Lynch says that it is difficult to carry out postal votes and far more members would vote if they had the possibility of voting electronically.
