In elections in the German State of Saxony yesterday the right wing AfD party won 9.7 per cent of the vote and so have won seats in the parliament in Dresden. It was their first time to contest a State election.
The AfD is opposed to many aspects of the EU and campaigns for a return of the Deutsch Mark.
The FDP won less than five per cent of the vote so have lost their parliamentary mandate.
The far right NPD came close to entering parliament by winning 4.9 per cent of the vote.
The ruling CDU won short of 40 per cent and will now be looking for a coalition partner. In the last parliamentary period they shared power with the FDP. This time they will have to look for new partners.
The SPD increased their vote by two per cent.

In English we say Deutschmark. I should have written it as one word.
Yes Mark is a feminine noun so the adjectival ending in the nominative case will have the word ending in an 'e'. But I was writing in English and in English we say the 'Deutschmark'.
