How exactly did our Catholic schools teach Christianity?

There is much conversation about the state of faith in Ireland. There are those who believe that there is no place for faith in the country, no place for religion, priests are easy targets. Ireland is a cold place for  God.

In recent days a priest visiting an elderly woman read eight lines from a Psalm. When he was finished the woman asked the priest if he were a Catholic. Her reasoning was that a Catholic priest would not read a Psalm to her.

A good example of how the faith has been taught/‘preached’ in the country. The following is a remark made on X by a Catholic commentator:  "Overheard in a cafe in Dublin: a lady, with great authority and indignation, explains to a friend the 'disgrace' she feels it is that children must be christened in order to make their First Holy Communion! Secular Ireland is a very curious place.”

What went on in all those schools that shouted from the rooftops about their 'Christian ethos’?

Might a great percentage of the fault lie with the priestly caste?

And how could a casual observance decide about the 'great authority and indignation' of a person? Glib and superficial.

Isn't it yet another example of how judgemental the Catholic apparatchik class have been and still can be in Ireland.
