Election Day in Northern Ireland

Today is election day in Northern Ireland.

On Tuesday evening BBC 1 Northern Ireland ran an hour-long debate with the main political parties. It was ably hosted by Jim Fitzpatrick.

The leaders of the DUP, UUP, Sinn Fein, the SDLP and the Alliance Party took part.

At the end of the debate did anyone know more about the views and policies of the parties? Did the debate help people in making up their minds how they will vote today?

It so happens on this day, May 5, 1981 27-year-old Bobby Sands died in Long Kesh after 66 days of hunger strike. At the time of his death he was he sitting MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
