A tweet from Mary Kenny. It reads: "Ireland needs more TRAINS. They are so full you can't get a ticket any more."
Irish Rail is in the process of buying new rolling stock. But like most generalisations, Ms Kenny's tweet is not accurate and it contains a non sequitur.
There were capacity issues at the weekend but Ms Kenny jumps from a specific situation and unwisely applies it to the entire system during ordinary weekday services.
Her tweet is symptomatic of the era of 'fake news'.
