Francis on fundamentalism

Returning to Rome form the Central African Republic Pope Francis said to jouranlists:

"In the Catholic church we have some -- many -- who believe they possess the absolute truth and they go on sullying others through slander and defamation and this is wrong. Religious fundamentalism must be combated. It is not religious, God is lacking, it is idolatrous."

This man seems to have his finger on the pulse of things within the Catholic Church.

Nasty right wing fundamentalist media in the US constantly attacks President Barack Obama. This month's freesheet Alive manages a snide remark on the US President, quoting Vladimir Putin to do so.
