Pope Benedict today re-stated the Roman Catholic Church's ban on women priests and warned that he would not tolerate disobedience by clerics on fundamental teachings.The above is a direct quote from the Irish Times web page.
In true humility and as a loyal Catholic and indeed admirer of Pope Benedict is it appropriate for the Pope on Holy Thursday to speak in a way that he allows himself to be quoted in such a manner.
The quote reminds one of all the wrong ways the Irish Minister for the Environment seems to say things. And look at the success Minister Phil Hogan has.

Did you see in today's Irish Times that Holy Thursday - the day to honour priests- also brought us the news that two inspiring and courageous Irish priests, Tony Flannery and Gerald , were effectively silenced by the Vatican. This sounds outrageous. What is going on ?

Yesterday on Holy Thursday each Irish diocesan bishop concelebrated Mass with many clergy, secular and religious, in what purports to be a display of priestly unity. I wonder how many bishops will now publicly denounce the Vatican's insidious attack on Tony Flannery and Gerard Moloney. My expectation is that none will have either the guts or the common decency to do so, yet all of them without exception will preach pious platitudes about hope,resurrection, new life and the like. Hypocrites one and all. What a mockery of the Gospel.
And is it possible that there might be a response or reactin?
It so happens in the April edition of Reality there is a piece on my comments on the new missal.

Oh, but I can see that clerical set laughing and sneering. Very unusual people and a great story waiting to be told.
