Worrying words spoken today at Auschwitz Birkenau

Today is European Holocaust Day, honouring the memory of the thousands of Roma and Sinti women, men, and children who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust.

On the night of August 2 to August 3, 1944, the remaining, approximately 4,000 Sinti and Roma prisoners, mostly women, children, and elderly people, were murdered in the gas chambers at Auschwitz Birkenau.

An elderly man, whose family was wiped out at Auschwitz Birkenau, spoke today on the site of the slaughter, the fears and worries he has of the current trend to the far right and how people in minorities are worried and anxious about their future.
