On this date, Monday, August 27, 1979 the IRA killed 18 British soldiers near Warrenpoint in County Down. On the same day an IRA bomb killed four people, including Lord Mountbatten, at Mullaghmore in County Sligo.
Thankfully we have come a long way from those dark days; all those who helped stopped the carnage deserve our gratitude.
