This AIB/GAA ad surely is all
wrong and it is surprising in the current atmosphere that neither the bank nor GAA sees how inappropriate it is.The word blood has shocking racist connotations about it. Wasn’t that part of the Hitler bible? And not just nazi terror.
What actually is ‘in our blood’? In whose ‘blood’ is it absent? Is it in our blood that we are ‘the toughest’. If that what is insinuated, then it is outrageous, dangerous and nasty.
And not a whisper of objection to the ad among the public or across the media.
Why is that?

If you are a Christian you could say: 'Jesus is in our blood!'
>> The concept of blood in the Bible is deeply tied to the idea of life and sacrifice, and while it may not use the exact phrase "our blood," it does convey the idea of blood being central to the life and spiritual well-being of a community or people.
Agree with the article. I was shocked when I first saw it and searched to see if there was any public or media outrage. Given that it was running at the same time as a GAA ad promoting diversity it would appear to be a massive oversight. It’s good to see that there is at least growing recognition of social exclusion, elitism and racism within GAA. I was relieved when my son eventually stopped playing as I couldn’t bear the yahooism, cronyism etc
