Yesterday evening at approximately 6.45 two young men, probably in their early 30s, were walking along the Dodder, no fuss, just taking a ramble on a pleasant May evening beside a fresh-flowing river on its way into the sea not too far away.
The two men were holding hands, maybe two gay men.
And then the public stand of the Catholic Church on homosexuality.
What percentage of clerics are closet gay men, 40, 50, 60 per cent or more?
What percentage of clerics are transgender, what percentage are unaware of their sexuality?
And never the slightest inclination within priesthood to discuss any of these topics in any type of forum. Not a word, nothing.
A strange world, a strange church?
