Why is RTE going out of its way to mispronounce the German word 'Bundestag'?
It is pronounced as it looks. There is no 'h' in the word.
RTE is being simply silly.

It has always been so. I think it must be some sort of attempted showing off which only those in the know will see through.
Very irritating, though, I agree.
Broadcasters generally seem to be increasingly mispronouncing names. Is it a case of just too careless to check or do they just not give a damn at all at all?
Recent examples:
The Saint John Gogarty pub in Temple Bar. This in an ad for the bar itself on Newstalk. I campaigned against it and have not now heard it for some time.
The Vee Vay Inn (in some recent news report). This is the Vevay (pronounced Vivvy) Inn in Bray.
No end in sight.
