Time we said net to Americanisms in our English language

Why is the word ‘like' appearing many times in every spoken sentence?

A group of young people, aged between 16 and 18, were asked what the word ‘kind'(sic) kid meant. Not one person in the group knew that it was a young goat.

Why is the word child/children disappearing from our vocabulary?

Is it more of the negative American influence on our language? It would seem so.

In English English a young goat is a Kid not a Kind. Is that an typo or an Irish derivation?

Thank you Brian and delighted you read the blog. It was a crass typo on my part. And how do I correct it without losing the impact of your comment? Have a look at what I did; I’m not sure it makes sense. Again, thank you and greatly appreciated. By the way, some weeks ago the blog was being read in China; every day now more and more Chinese readers are on board.
