Germany is cutting the brench which it sits on.
"Deutschland schafft sich ab!"
The phrase "Deutschland schafft sich ab" was used by Thilo Sarrazin in 2010 as the title for a book which was the first successful attempt to bring toxic popularist themes, like hostility to migrants, Islamophobia, blanket slamming of 'elites', etc., into the mainstream of public discourse in Germany. It's a very dangerous meme.
