SURRENDER DAY IN BERLIN

Seventy three years ago today the Soviet Union announced that Berlin had surrendered to the Red Army.

On May 2, 1945 German General Helmuth Weidling surrendered to Soviet General Vasily Chuikov and ordered all German soldiers to lay down their arms to the Red Army.
