Ferriter on Ross

Ironically, the Bill is championed by the grandest panjandrum in contemporary Irish politics.

The Bill will not serve justice; it will merely massage one giant ego.

From yesterday's Diarmaid Ferriter column in The Irish Times.

A panjandrum is a person who has or claims to have a great deal of authority or influence. It is a word  seldom heard today.

A District Court judge used it in his court in Ennis when referrring to broadcaster Joe Duffy.

And of course Ferriter is referring to Shane Ross TD.

Two giant egos?
