According to yesterday's Irish Times, Fr Martin Clarke of Kilcoole parish compared the return of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin to his home with that of Jesus to his home town of Nazareth.
Presumably Fr Clarke is the same person, who was at one stage press officer either for the Dublin diocese or the Irish hierarchy.
Reading Fr Clarke's comment, one is bound to ask is the church in Ireland learning anything from history. Is it in the slightest way denuding itself of its arrogance and 'certainty'.
Later the piece reports Fr Clarke as saying that 'clericalism still ruled'. Not only is it 'ruling' but it is in the ascendancy.
Twenty, thirty years ago there were people shouting out loud that things were wrong. They were dismissed then and are still being dismissed.

The Irish Times reports that he's Fr Eamonn Clarke not Martin Clarke (the latter was a spokesman for the bishops).
These kind of mistakes are sloppy- they give blogs and online journalism a bad name.
Please try harder to get the basics right.
