An indirect quote from a wise Irish Dominican.
"You can do what you like in the Irish Dominicans once you don't criticise the establishment/system."
There is indeed an aspect of anonymity to this quote but it would be most unfair to mention the source as it was said in a private personal conversation.

you do what you like without respecting the legitimate authority of the democratically elected provincial and his council, as you have done for years! Practice what you preach, please!
Your point? For a guy that goes on and on about anonymity.....this entry beggars belief! Try and be consistent.
Is it just the imagination of this blogger or is it so that these style comments are simply nasty remarks?
There is alway a nasty style about the anonymous ones. As to 'Sean's' comments I hope that I have accepted the wishes of the democratically elected 'superiors' of the Irish Dominicans.
I have serious problems when someone is treated unjuslty and actions are taken in darkened rooms by anonymous people. I have serious worries when provinicals treat people in a most un-Christian fashion.
I have no problem speaking out about the incompetence and crass inefficiency, the waste of resources and money that takes place within the province.
Two small items. Take for example the death notice of Fr Stephen Doyle in yesterday's newspapers. The province could not even get that right.
Look at the webpage of the province. What sort of nonsense is it to add up the ages of two elderly men in the province and then comment that they have been pastorally engaged for that number of years. And anyway, it is not true as one of them has been in a nursing home for many years. Two fine, hard working men, but surely not an item of news. Why not add up all the years of every one in the province and draw a similar conclusion. And would all those years mean 'work done'?
But at a far deeper level, the nasty anonymous comments that have been made on these pages may well be a sign or symptom of something far deeper and most worrying in our province.
The anonymous letters, secret webpage material, and many other worrying signs all must add up to a landscape that is not healthy.
The inability of provinicals and council members to say sorry when they get things so wrong is breathtakingly arrogant.
Where have the ages of two elderly men been added up?

Is it time to discontinue posting anonymous comments?
Suggestions from readers are most welcome and will also be informative.
Does it matter whether the comment is from 'anonymous' or 'sean' or 'john' or 'joe soap'. You still do not know who they are coming from and does it really matter so much where they are coming from?
