James Beausang OP, RIP

Dominican brother, James Beausang died yesterday, Wednesday, October 31.

James, a native of Cork, made his profession with the Irish Dominicans in 1957.

For the last number of years he was a member of the Dominican community at Montenotte in Cork.

James was a quiet, obliging man, who spent many years living at the Irish Dominican priory in San Clemente, Rome, where he welcomed visitors to the basilica and famous excavations.

As a result of his years in Rome he had a fond interest in all things Italian and was an authority on films, especially ones concerning life and art in Italy.

He was born in Cork in 1933.

James' funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, November 3, the feast of Dominican saint, Martin de Porres, at 11.30 in Montenotte, Ennismore, Cork.
