Liberation at Auschwitz

Today is National Holocaust Day.

It is the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army.

The camp was situated in southern Poland, 65 kilometres west of Krakow. Its Polish name is Oswiecem.

Unlike death camps in the former West Germany, Auschwitz was never sanitised. It was, more or less, left in its original state of terror and horror.
