My cousin was doing this when he was a Parish Priest in a Dublin suburb years ago. Got complained to the Bishop at the time.
The shame of it was that he got a better reception in the Protestant church than did the Protestant Rector in his. Says a lot about the intimidating ethos in the Roman Catholic church.
